| Indigo-blue and vermilion red. This rice bowl, adorned with overglaze gold on a mica-gold base, is packed with techniques unique to Mino ware. The underglaze and overglaze techniques of Mino ware were developed to ensure the pieces could reach as many people as possible. The design, expressed through the combination of both techniques, originates from the Egyptian lotus and is derived from the arabesque pattern—a motif that spread throughout the world alongside history and blossomed into various forms in different regions. |
