This exhibition closely follows the world of works by Osaka painters who were creative and proud to be citizens of Osaka during the era of Osaka, when the city became the largest mammoth city in Japan after the expansion of the city area in 1925. In addition to pursuing the spirit of modernism embodied in their works, the book also includes valuable discussions of the Osaka art world from the author's unique perspective, taking into account the cultural background of the painters. The author's collection of Houshonen prints and other works showcases the wealth of talent of the hobbyists who were the result of the matured culture of the townspeople. Includes many color illustrations.
