A new standard denim that can be enjoyed by all genders has been born. *This item is made based on men's sizes. [Baker-derived workmanship]. Baker" in the item name means a baker. The name "Baker" is derived from the work clothes worn by bakers. The wide but not too rough silhouette is beautiful and gives you a sense of adult composure. The most distinctive feature of the Baker pants is the large square pocket on the front. The work-inspired pockets accentuate the simplicity of the design. The hem has a thick turnover for a point of interest. Repeated washing will give the pockets and hems a more durable look and feel. [A moderate vintage look.] The one-wash process gives the garment a vintage look and feel with just the right amount of wear and tear throughout. How you grow with them is up to your individuality and lifestyle. We hope you will grow your own one-of-a-kind denim, little by little, in your daily life. [From Seed to Fabric: The Journey of Organic Cotton] Through repeated communication between local staff and sisam designers, Creative Handicrafts has been able to convert most of its fabrics to organic cotton. We would like to introduce the journey of the fabrics. Organic cotton is not grown by large corporations on a large scale, but by small family farmers who grow it according to their climate and lifestyle. Insects are attracted to cotton that is grown not by chemicals but by the blessings of the earth and the power of nature. The harvested cotton is sent to a ginning mill, where the cotton is sorted into cotton and seeds. To support the cotton farmers, this non-profit organization works closely with them to ensure that both sides are able to do business on a fair basis. The sorted cotton is sent to a spinning mill, where it is made into yarn, which is used as the basis for fabrics. Cotton is put into a machine to remove dust and gradually becomes thinner and thinner. Large-scale machines are running, and in many places, the process is automated with almost no human intervention. The yarn goes to a fabric weaving factory. This is a view of a factory called BTC in a town called Aerod in the southernmost Indian state of Tamil Nadu. At BTC, manufacturing is being carried out steadily by old machines and human hands. Even though it is called machine weaving, the warp threads, in particular, have to be very delicately hand-operated on the loom. The work using machines is also a process with temperature, which is left to the hands of human beings. Organic cotton fabrics are born from cotton fields facing nature and passing through the hands of many people. We would be happy if you could feel the long journey of the fabric, even if only a little. [Denim to Grow] 100% organic cotton is used. 「パン職人由来のワーク感」
アイテム名のベーカーとは、パン職人のこと。
パン職人が穿いていた作業服が由来とされています。
ワイドながらラフすぎないシルエットが美しく、大人の余裕を感じさせてくれます。
ベーカーパンツの一番の特徴は、前についている大きなスクエアポケット。
ワーク感あふれるポケットが、シンプルなデザインの中にアクセントを与えてくれます。
裾には太い見返しがついていてワンポイントに。
洗いを繰り返すことで、ポケットや裾にあたりが出て味わいが増す楽しみも。
「ほどよいヴィンテージ感」
ワンウォッシュをかけたことで、随所に程よくあたりが出て、ヴィンテージ感のある風合いに。

「種から生地へ 〜オーガニックコットンの旅路〜」
現地スタッフとsisamのデザイナーが何度もやりとりを重ね、今はほとんどのオーガニックコットン化を叶えることができたCreative Handicraftsの生地。その旅路をご紹介します。
大きな企業が大規模に栽培するコットンではなく、家族単位の小さな農家の人々が風土や暮らしに合わせて栽培をしているオーガニックコットン。
化学の力ではなく、大地の恵みと自然の力のなかで育てられるコットンには、当たり前のように虫たちが集まってくるのです。
収穫されたコットンは「ジニングミル」というコットンを綿と種に仕分ける工場へ送られます。
この非営利組織では、コットン農家の人々をサポートするため、農家の人々と密なコミュニケーションを取り、お互いがフェアな立場で取引ができるよう工夫を重ねています。
仕分けた綿は生地のもとになる糸を作る工場「スピニングミル」へ。
綿を機械に入れてゴミを取り除いて、だんだん細くなっていきます。
大規模な機械が動き、ほぼ人の手が入らないオートメーション化が進んでいるところが多いそうです。
糸は生地の織り工場へ。
こちらはインド最南端タミルナードゥ州のエーロードという町にあるBTCという工場の様子。
BTCでは古い機械と人の手により地道なものづくりが進められています。
機械織りと言いつつも、特に経糸はとても繊細な手作業で織り機にかけていかなければなりません。
機械を用いた作業も、人の手にゆだねられた温度ある工程なのですね。
自然と向き合うコットン畑から、多くの人々の手を経て生まれたオーガニックコットン生地。
その長い旅路を、少しでも感じていただけると嬉しいです。
