Description
The thoughts of the architects who design the museum are traced in words and documents . The Chigasaki Art Museum, designed by Yoichiro Yamaguchi, is known for its community-based architecture. The Shimane Center for the Arts, designed by Naito Hiroshi, covered the entire building with Iwami tiles; the Shimose Art Museum, designed by Ban Shigeru, which utilizes shipbuilding technology from Hiroshima; the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum, designed by Hiroshi Sambuichi, which created a recycling-oriented building using natural energy; the Teshima Art Museum, designed by Ryue Nishizawa, which combines environment, art, and architecture; and the National Museum of Modern Art, which is a collection of artworks by the same architects. In addition, the National Museum of Modern Art, Kanagawa, the National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo, and the Tatebayashi Museum of Art, Gunma, will be examined through documents, photographs, and interviews with architects from the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Published as a supplement to the exhibition of the same title to be held at the Chigasaki Museum of Art from April 2025. Included as a book-in-book is the playwright Tak Tak Taku Yamamoto's "Poem of Space" about the museum in words. |
