Description
| The watchword is "Let's do it! This is a record of the challenges of providing childcare for schoolchildren, where the children "start moving on their own. This book describes the practices of Haru-Labo/Natsu-Labo, a private after-school care program established by the author, who confronts head-on the "summer vacation barrier" for working families. The author is a rhythmic instructor who has been working with children and their parents in music classes for over 20 years. [The author is a eurhythmic teacher who has been working with children and their parents in music classes for more than 20 years.] At this school childcare center, which was started with this in mind, children cook for themselves, cultivate the fields, and engage in sex education and learning about money. In addition, the program is also filled with ideas to nurture a "zest for life" through experiences such as rhythmic music, festivals, play, and dialogue. *How to overcome the "first grade wall" and "summer vacation anxiety"? * What does it mean for children to run on their own? * What are the possibilities of private school children and the challenges to overcome? The book carefully depicts how each child thinks and acts on his or her own, sometimes struggling and changing as a result. What can be done to create a "third place where children really feel safe" that is neither home nor school? This book delivers a new form of childcare for children, parents, and all those involved in education. Table of Contents Chapter 1: Why did we start a music school to provide after-school care for children? Chapter 2: A third place for children that seriously supports working mothers Chapter 3: From the information session to the application Chapter 4: One incident after another Chapter 5: Children changed! 20 Days of Miracle [Comment from the Editor] This book is not just a practical record of school-age children's care. The author, who has been working with parents and children at a music school for more than 20 years, has seriously challenged this book based on her own experience and the earnest voices of working mothers who say that they have no place to turn, that they leave their children with a sense of guilt, that they are constantly nagging at their children, and that they want to listen more to their children's voices. This is a "new type of childcare for schoolchildren. I was deeply moved by the author's real voice and the process of implementation when I learned about the "Haru-Labo/Natsu-Labo" project he launched in Hamamatsu. The way the children visibly change over the course of 20 days, the way the parents change their mindset from "leave the child in the care of" to "grow up together," and the struggles and growth of the adults involved all shed light on the "essence" of what is needed in child rearing and education today. This book is not only for parents, but also for all those involved in education, childcare, and community building. About the Author Kaori Tsuboi Kaori Tsuboi is an educational activist for children.
