Description
| *Indispensable for celebrations! This is a traditional Indonesian rice mold for beautifully shaping conical rice [nasi*tumpen]. Nasi*Tumpen is a traditional dish popular throughout Indonesia. Yellow-colored rice is served in a conical shape to express gratitude to the gods and feelings of celebration. Originally, it originated from mountain worship in Java, and was created to symbolize a mountain (where the gods reside). Today, it has spread throughout Indonesia as a celebratory dish that appears at birthdays, weddings, store openings, school events, and all other occasions. In Bali, tampen is also served at Hindu ceremonies and celebrations, and is sometimes displayed alongside offerings (chanan). Sacred and gorgeous, this pile of rice is the star of the show. The aluminum molds are simply filled with freshly cooked rice and pressed into a beautiful conical shape. They are perfect for party food and ethnic table presentation not only in Indonesian homes and diners, but also in Japan. The Nasi*Tumpen molds are a reminder of the festive culture of the tropics. Please try to recreate the festive atmosphere of Indonesia. |
