| *Tibetan Buddhist Art Yabhyam In Tibetan Buddhist art, a yabhyam is a representation of a male deity in sexual embrace with his female spouse. The use of sexual union as a symbol of the mystical union of active power (masculine) and wisdom (feminine) necessary to overcome the false duality of separation between people, this pose evolved from Indian Tantric thought. This is also known as Buddha*Shakti (the word [shakti] means [energy] and is usually identified with a female deity). This is a very reasonably priced Buddha statue. The secret is that it is made of a material called resin. It is made by molding a metal statue of a god and pouring resin into the mold. The small size makes it ideal for display at home, in restaurants, and stores. |
