| *Tea towel culture of British origin Tea towels, as the name suggests, are a traditional fabric deeply rooted in the English tea culture. Although similar fabrics have existed since ancient times, the present-day prototype was created in Victorian England, where the custom of serving tea at social gatherings spread and tea towels came to be used as an accompaniment to fine tableware. At that time, tea towels were wrapped around teapots to keep them warm and used to protect bread and cakes from dust. Later, as the custom of drinking tea spread to the general public, beautifully designed tea towels became popular along with the development of industry. *Various uses Tea towels are now used not only for tea time, but also as a versatile cloth that can be used mainly in the kitchen. It is a rectangular cloth and measures approximately 70cm*45cm. In woodblock dyeing, the pattern is drawn by pressing the woodblock by hand, changing the plate for each color. ティータオルは、名前の通り英国の紅茶文化に深く根ざした伝統的なファブリックです。似た布は古来からありましたが、現在の原型としてはヴィクトリア朝時代のイギリスで、社交の場でお茶を出す習慣が広まり、高級食器のお供としてティータオルが使われるようになりました。
