Description
| Hand-woven rug, one of a kind [Item no.] hal2335 [Size] 102 x 52 cm (not including tassels) [Place of origin] Kirsehir [Material] Wool This is a piece of bag-shaped carpet used as a long and narrow cushion called yastuk (meaning "pillow") in the Anatolian region. Currently, the reverse side has been removed and it is a single piece of carpet. This carpet was made with the spirit of hospitality in mind, and was designed for a salon that welcomes guests to relax in a row of yastuks by the window. This carpet has a red base with a round bouquet-like motif in the center and a glamorous medallion design. The design is slightly different from the Anatolian nomadic carpets with linear geometric motifs woven into them, as these carpets come from a region where carpets were woven for the court in the olden times. The pile is rather long, and the overall thickness of the carpet is around 6-7 mm, making it a soft and supple woven carpet. It is in beautiful condition, retaining the vivid colors of the time when it was woven. ⇒⇒Tribal carpets list ⇒ ⇒ List of Rugs |
