| This is a work by Kazufumi Wada of Katsurayama Kiln*, which has its kiln in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, the village of ceramics. [The process of "shaving off" is a technique of carefully shaving off the surface of the potter's wheel by hand, one by one, with a carving knife or metal blade. This process requires a great deal of concentration, skill, and time. The uneven beauty that cannot be reproduced by a machine and the warmth of the hand are expressed as they are in the expression of the vessel.
