■学問・金運の神様 ガネーシャ
ガネーシャは、ゾウの頭をし、ぽっこりした大きな体を持ちながら、ちっちゃなネズミが乗り物という、なんともユニークな神様です。
サンスクリットで「群衆（ガナ）の主（イーシャ）」を意味し、同じ意味でガナパティ（gaNapati）とも呼ばれるのだそう。このガネーシャ、インドでは学問の神様、商売繁盛の神様として多くの人々の信仰を得ています。
