This is a pure white rough selenite crystal with a silky luster that runs depending on the way the light hits it. The selenite with mother rock in the last photo is actually a rough stone specially acquired by our buyer from a local owner to prove that this crystal was formed in its natural state! *Rough stones are not for sale, but you can see them freely at our store [natural stone sakura] in Okazaki, Aichi. We carefully select and deliver genuine, natural selenite that is the bounty of the earth! [Meaning * legend * folklore etc.] The colorless, transparent type is called selenite, and the white, fibrous type is called satinspur. Both selenite and satinspur are a type of gypsum. They are also known as "glass of the Virgin Mary," and were once used for window glass. 【意味合い・云われ・伝承等】
無色透明な物をセレナイト、白色で繊維質の物をサティンスパーといいます。
セレナイトとサティンスパーはどちらもジプサム（石膏）の一種です。
ギリシャ語の月の女神セレーネCerene（月）を意味する言葉が語源とされており、別名「聖母マリアのガラス」とも呼ばれ、かつては実際に窓ガラスなどに利用されることもあったそうです。
古くから癒しの石として愛用され、持ち主の昂ぶった気や、頑固な感情を和らげてくれると云われています。
