| Enshu Cotton is a traditional textile that originated in the Edo period and has been passed down through the generations in the Enshu region of Shizuoka Prefecture. This region is known as one of Japan’s three major centers for cotton textiles, and many skilled weavers have worked there over the years. However, as the 1980s began, the textile industry increasingly shifted overseas, and the production of Enshu Tsumugi gradually declined. Even so, there are still artisans who strive to improve quality while preserving tradition, and the trust of customers remains deeply rooted. The greatest appeal of Enshu Cotton lies in the [warmth of the artisans]. From spinning the yarn to weaving the fabric, every step is carried out by skilled artisans, and that warmth is reflected in the finished products. Widely cherished as everyday clothing and accessories—such as kimonos and bags—these textiles add a touch of color to our lives. The filling is made of organic cotton.
