These are cute whale-shaped chopstick rests. They come in two refreshing colors: blue and white.
They add a warm, cozy touch to your dining table.

*Material Characteristics
[Porcelain]
Porcelain is made by kneading and shaping powdered porcelain stone, then firing it at high temperatures. It features a dense body structure and a white surface, and is characterized by being harder and more durable than earthenware. Additionally, because it is non-porous, it resists stains, mold, and other dirt, making it very easy to care for in daily use.

[Semi-Porcelain]
Semi-porcelain is made by blending pottery clay and porcelain clay, resulting in a ceramic that combines the properties of both pottery and porcelain. To ensure you can enjoy these pieces for many years to come, please keep the following points in mind when using them.

[Earthenware]
This is a classic material for pottery that has been used in daily life since ancient times. It is often highly absorbent, and because it has a coarse grain and is soft, it is prone to chipping. However, it comes in a wide variety of styles, is approachable, and possesses a rich, distinctive texture.

[Earthenware (Kohiki)]
This is made by applying a white slip coating and a transparent glaze before firing. Because it is absorbent, a characteristic feature is the development of “rain stains”—variegated discoloration—that appear as the piece is used over time. While this material requires careful handling, it possesses a unique, plump, and warm texture.

[Heat-Resistant Pottery]
Heat-resistant pottery contains petalite (a special heat-resistant material). As a result, even when the vessel is subjected to heat, it is resistant to breakage caused by thermal expansion. When handled properly, it is a versatile material that can be used both as tableware and as cooking utensils.

[Clay Pot]
Clay pots contain petalite (a special heat-resistant material). This gives them the property of withstanding thermal stress without breaking due to thermal expansion, even when the pot itself is subjected to heat. Additionally, the heat-resistant clay emits far-infrared rays, which help bring out the natural umami of ingredients and result in a mellow, well-rounded flavor in your dishes.

[Iga Pot]
The clay sourced from the Ancient Lake Biwa Formation—a geological stratum in the Iga region—is highly refractory, and heat-resistant pottery has been crafted from it as a household item in Japan since ancient times. It is characterized by its excellent heat retention* and insulation properties, as well as its rich, earthy texture. Furthermore, its far-infrared properties help bring out the natural umami of ingredients and result in a mellow, well-rounded flavor. Since no special fire-resistant additives are included in the raw materials, these pots are more prone to developing crazing (surface cracks) under normal daily use compared to clay pots containing petalite. As you use your Iga pot, please enjoy the aged charm that reflects the passage of time.
