Description
| This “Cha-ou” (tea set) by [Sekiryu] features an elegant camellia design on rich, deep-red shu-de clay. It is a charming masterpiece where the warm hues unique to beautiful shu-de clay harmonize with the elegant camellia design. Accented with a pine-bark pattern, it makes a striking statement not only in the tea ceremony setting, but also as a collectible or interior accent piece. It is easy to hold with one hand, allowing even left-handed users to brew tea smoothly. The body features a pine-bark texture, giving it a non-slip surface and a comfortable grip. [Tokoname-yaki] Counted among Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, its origins date back to the late Heian period. A distinctive feature of Tokoname ware is its use of iron-rich clay sourced from the Chita Peninsula. By leveraging this property to bring out the red hue of the iron, a technique known as “shu-de,” Tokoname ware has developed its signature color. It is also highly recommended for international visitors. |
