| The warmth of the clay and the one-of-a-kind scenery painted by nature. This treasure vase features delicate patterns created using the “mogake” technique, which beautifully stand out against the high-fired clay body. “Mogake” is a traditional technique in which seaweed is wrapped around the vessel and fired; the salt contained in the seaweed reacts with the clay, creating natural vermilion and golden patterns unique to this process. No two pieces feature exactly the same pattern, allowing you to enjoy the charm of a one-of-a-kind piece. Its gentle, rounded form fits comfortably in the hand, and the smooth texture unique to this firing technique makes it a truly delightful piece. It is, of course, an ideal teapot for savoring gyokuro or premium sencha, but it also makes a striking statement as a work of art. [Tokoname-yaki] Counted among Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, its origins date back to the late Heian period. A distinctive feature of Tokoname-yaki is its use of iron-rich clay sourced from the Chita Peninsula. By leveraging this property to bring out the red hue of the iron, a technique known as “shu-de,” pottery with the characteristic color of Tokoname-yaki was created. |

【常滑焼】
日本六古窯の一つに数えられ、その起源は平安末期にまでさかのぼります。
常滑焼の特徴は知多半島で採れる鉄分を多く含んだ陶土を使用している点です。
その性質を活かして、鉄分を赤く発色させることを朱泥と言い、
常滑焼を特徴付ける色の焼き物ができました。
