"Reinforced clay" is created by adding proprietary reinforcing particles to pottery or porcelain clay. The raw materials are finely ground to increase density and remove large particles that could cause breakage. Additionally, the expansion rates of the clay body and glaze are adjusted during firing. This results in a flexural strength 1.5 to 2 times greater than that of standard clay.
