Named in honor of Umi Hachiman Shrine, the [80,000 Daifuku] is the only year-round confection imbued with the wish that “good fortune may continue infinitely.” The bowl is designed to evoke the view of the shrine grounds where the workshop is located, ensuring the daifuku’s beautiful “8” shape—a nod to Umi Hachiman Shrine—is showcased to its fullest. [ Precautions for Using Earthenware Products ] * Before First Use Earthenware is fired at high temperatures ranging from 900 to 1200 degrees. Because the clay is coarse and highly absorbent, using the item as is will cause it to absorb soy sauce, moisture from food, and oils. We recommend sealing the pottery before using it for the first time. Boiling it in rice washing water will close the gaps between the clay particles and seal any glaze cracks (these are hairline cracks in the glaze, not chips), making it less likely for moisture or oil from food to seep in and preventing stains and odors. �@Pour enough rice washing water into a pot to fully submerge the entire piece. �ABoil over low heat for about 15–20 minutes. �B Let the pot cool completely, then wash it thoroughly and dry it completely. If sealing the pores is difficult, soak the pot in plenty of water for half a day to a full day before first use, then wipe off the moisture before using it. *Care Instructions You can wash the item with a soft sponge and a neutral detergent. Storing it while still damp can cause a musty odor. *Storage If storing in a cabinet for an extended period, make sure it is thoroughly dry before putting it away. *About Craquelure “Craquelure” refers to the fine cracks that form in the glaze of ceramic ware due to differences in the expansion rates of the clay body and the glaze. Please enjoy this as a unique characteristic of pottery. *If Stains or Odors Develop Tea stains and other marks may develop with use. While these will gradually blend into the piece, if the odor bothers you, soaking the item in a baking soda solution for half a day to a full day and then drying it may remove the odor. *Microwave, Dishwasher, and Oven Do not use this item in a microwave, dishwasher, or oven. |
