Description
| The inherent beauty of the white porcelain clay—the very foundation of Hasami-yaki. And the beauty of the hand-painted red designs that complement it. The [Kochakue] design was created by Takao Matsuo, a designer at the time and a disciple of Chito Sawada—a former designer at Kyoritsu Pottery—based on the Chinese Wanli-period red-painted porcelain, a motif that Sawada particularly favored. Every step of the Hasami-yaki production process is highly specialized, with each task carried out by a dedicated artisan under a system of division of labor. “Ko-Akae” is one such product—a modern design created with even work efficiency in mind. While evolving over time, it has remained a timeless bestseller, serving as the face of Kyōritsu Pottery and beautifully adorning dining tables. Made from stone, this tableware boasts high durability. Because it can be crafted thin and lightweight and is easy to maintain, it is ideal for everyday use. |

*Due to the nature of the overglaze decoration, the red or gold color may chip off due to heavy rubbing or scraping. *Small black dots (iron particles) may be visible on the surface; these are a result of the manufacturing process and do not indicate a defect. *Since these items are hand-finished, each piece has a unique appearance. *Each piece varies in appearance due to differences in glaze application, color unevenness, variations in shade, and speckles. *Scratches may occur when stacking items, and strong friction from metal cutlery may leave black scratch marks. *Please refrain from returning or exchanging items based on differences in appearance or glaze color from your expectations. *The color may appear different from the actual product depending on your monitor. |
