Description
| In Ureshino City, Saga Prefecture—the home of Hizen Yoshida-yaki, a pottery tradition with over 400 years of history—Satoshi Tsuji, founder of [224porcelain], developed a new material called [Seido] with deep consideration for the history of Hizen Yoshida-yaki and the future of the region. While poring over old documents, Mr. Tsuji focused on the clay used approximately 400 years ago when pottery production first began in Yoshida. The resulting Seido reduces carbon dioxide emissions during firing by 40%, achieves a first-pass yield of 99%, and boasts 1.5 times the strength of conventional raw materials, making it a material that could be considered the standard for the next generation. Using this Seido clay, we’ve created a Seido version of the popular [224Glad] series, which allows you to freely coordinate both dishes and settings! The [224Glad] Seido collection features a matte, modern texture without glaze, yet the natural “teppun” (frit) patterns lend it a certain warmth. We hope you’ll enjoy coordinating these pieces with our traditional colors as well. |
