These Beitou Stone bracelets are made from Beitou Stone, which is found exclusively at Beitou Hot Springs in Taiwan and Tamagawa Hot Springs in Akita Prefecture. We sourced this Beitou Stone directly from a local manufacturer in Beitou Hot Springs. Beitou Stone is designated as a natural monument in both Taiwan and Japan, and no new stones are being mined. Therefore, this product is made by firing Beitou Stone powder into ceramic (pottery). Beitou Stone is a lead-bearing barite that contains the radioactive element radium. While this may raise concerns about radiation exposure, both radium and radon—which is produced by the decay of radium—are present in extremely small amounts, and the majority of the radiation is alpha particles. Since a single sheet of paper is sufficient to block alpha radiation, there is no cause for concern as long as the particles are not inhaled into the body. Since radium has a melting point of 700 degrees and a boiling point of 1,140 degrees, it does not turn into a gas, so there is virtually no risk of internal exposure. Furthermore, while radon is a noble gas, its half-life is just under four days, and it is said to be expelled from the body immediately even if it enters. 北投石は台湾でも日本でも天然記念物となっており、新たな石は産出しません。
そのため、 北投石の粉末をセラミック（陶器）に焼き固めたものです。
北投石は放射性のラジウムを含む含鉛重晶石です。
そのため放射能被曝が心配されますが、ラジウムも、ラジウムが崩壊して生じるラドンもごく微量で、その大半がα線です。α線は紙一枚で被曝を防ぐことができますので、体内に吸引しない限りは問題ありません。
