Description
| *About Jadeite [Jadeite] Since ancient times, the term “gyoku” has been synonymous with jadeite, reflecting how deeply familiar this stone is to people in the East and how closely it has been intertwined with their religious beliefs. It has also been highly prized in Japan since ancient times; jade magatama have been discovered at Jomon-period archaeological sites, and it is known to have circulated as a trade good. Jade comes in two types: nephrite and jadeite. The more valuable jadeite is commonly referred to as “genuine jade” to distinguish it from nephrite. Specimens with a vivid, highly transparent green color derived from chromium and iron are called “Rōkan” and are extremely rare. Due to its deep connection to ancient history and the numerous legends surrounding it, jade is known throughout the East as a stone of success and prosperity. |
