In addition to allowing you to enjoy the aroma of the sake, the katakuchi itself has a striking form that adds visual interest to the table. “Reinforced clay” is created by adding proprietary reinforcing particles to pottery or porcelain clay. The raw materials are finely ground to increase density and remove large particles that could cause breakage. Furthermore, the firing process is adjusted to ensure the expansion rates of the clay body and glaze are matched. This results in a flexural strength 1.5 to 2 times greater than that of standard clay. |
