Description
| We’ve turned the beautiful photographs of Kyoto taken by photographer* Katsuhiko Mizuno into scarves. These scarves, which allow you to “wear” Kyoto’s four seasons and scenery, are very popular not only among Japanese customers but also as gifts for visitors from overseas. The fabric is a soft, high-quality polyester chiffon that resists wrinkles and is machine-washable at home. Each corner features a gold shell-motif element [Shell]. These elements not only serve as accents but also act as weights when the scarf is wrapped, making it exceptionally easy to tie—a feature highly praised by our repeat customers. Katsuhiko Mizuno * Kyoto Scarves can be found here Artist Biography Born in 1941 in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Doshisha University in 1964. After completing graduate studies at the Tokyo College of Photography, he began photographing Kyoto’s landscapes, gardens, and architecture in 1969. He has also maintained a deep focus on traditional Japanese culture, continuing to publish his work in the editorial field to this day. His works, which reflect his ongoing contemplation of the nature and culture of Kyoto—where he was born and raised—convey the weight of 1,200 years of history and the colors of the four seasons, earning him high acclaim as a leading figure in Kyoto photography. In 2000, in the Nishijin district, he restored a machiya—a traditional townhouse believed to date from the late Edo period—and established the Katsuhiko Mizuno Photo Space [Machiya Photo Gallery]. Open to the public as a museum (reservations required), it attracts visitors from all over the country. To date, he has published 175 books. He is a member of the Japan Photographers Association and the Japan Society for the Art of Photography. |
