江戸時代の名家の庭で大切にされた南天の木。しかしその樹齢は400年を超え、ここまで育つことは稀であり、銘木協会の理事長賞を受賞した銘木です。
また、南天は木の実を灯火に見立てた中国語の「南天燭」に由来し、難を転ずる縁起木としても親しまれています。
