*What is [Hazu Tonalite (HAZU Tonalite)]?

It is the stone used in the castle walls of Nagoya Castle, which was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu.

The castle remained under the control of descendants of the Tokugawa family until the 17th generation.

It is a renowned stone dating back approximately 95 million years.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary stone, but it is a unique rock that falls between granite and diorite, containing little potassium feldspar and consisting mainly of plagioclase and quartz.

Until recently, it was recognized as granite, but as research progressed, it was determined to be a different mineral called tonarite.
