Description
| *What is [KISHU Redstone]? In ancient Japan, it was believed that keeping red stones mined from the Kii River nearby or wearing them would ward off evil spirits. That custom has now faded and is on the verge of disappearing. Even overseas, red stone has long been believed to store the power of the sun and to serve as a protective stone. Red stone from the Kii River is a type of stone containing a high amount of iron within its silicon, which has oxidized and turned red. The Kii River and Yoshino River provide the ideal environment—with high temperature and pressure—for producing red stones with a high Mohs hardness, which is why red stones are also found in the neighboring Nara Prefecture. Even among red stones, there is great variety, and hues such as green and yellow can be observed. This is because the stones originate from chlorite and epidote, which contain iron oxide; the speed of oxidation and the passage of time result in a variety of hues. Due to riverbank reinforcement projects along the Kinokawa River, these stones have been buried, and currently, only those mined in the past are available on the market. [About Stone Club] [Stone Club] is a natural stone wholesaler with a physical store in Hakuro-cho, Osaka. We handle product planning and manufacturing at our own factories in Japan and overseas, and carry a wide selection of natural stones carefully selected locally.
