Description
| Edo faceting, a traditional handicraft designated by the national government, is a traditional handicraft of downtown Tokyo that has been produced since the Edo period (1603-1868). The glass is melted at 1,350 degrees Celsius, and then cut (shaved) carefully one by one by a skilled Edo-kiriko craftsman. The cut glass reveals the inner transparent glass through the colored glass on the surface, creating a wonderful contrast between the transparent and colored glass and highlighting the traditional patterns and hana-kiriko designs. This product is also recommended for inbound sales. |

国の指定する伝統工芸品「江戸切子」は江戸時代から続く東京下町の伝統工芸品です。
1350度で溶けているガラスを熟練の技で透明と色ガラスの二重構造に仕上げ、巧みの技を持つ江戸切子の職人が一つ一つ丁寧にグラスをカット（削る）して行きます。
カットすることにより表面の色ガラスから内側の透明なグラスが見えてきて、透明と色ガラスの素晴しいコントラストが、伝統の文様や花切子のデザインで浮き上がります。
