白と黒の涙のような形の向き合ったこの図は、太極図と呼ばれます。
この太極図的な世界観は、森羅万象を陽と陰の要素によって成り立っているというように考えるのです。
図で言えば白いほうが陽で黒いほうが陰です。
陽は行き着くと陰となり反転し、陰は行き着くと陽となり反転します。
陽をポジティブな働きかける方だと考え、陰をネガティブで受身の方向に捉えます。
この太極図の重要な点は、単に二極化した事象を捉えるだけでなく、それらが上述のようにお互いに端まで行き着けば反転して反対側の性質に変化するという点です。
また、陰と陽は対立するものではなく、お互いに補い合うものであると考えます。
