Each piece is carefully lacquered by hand by craftsmen of Echizen Lacquerware in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, which is famous for lacquer painting. The traditional technique of applying transparent urushi over gold or black maki-e lacquer is used to create a subtle pattern. It may seem black at first, but as you use it, the color will gradually come out. Various switches and cameras are designed to be operated with the cover on. The functionality is perfect.
