| Nakayoshi Kokeshi are cute kokeshi characters based on the traditional kokeshi dolls of the Tohoku region. The Nakayoshi Kokeshi, mainly through stationery and sundry goods, convey the culture of the Tohoku region and good Japanese culture, including traditional games and daily life. This penny note is a "Nakayoshi Kokeshi Sendai Suzume Odori" created to commemorate the Tohoku Rokkon Matsuri (Festival of the Six Spirits). Sendai Suzume Odori is a local performing art that originated in Sendai. It is said to have originated in 1603, when stone wall builders performed an impromptu dance in front of the feudal lord Date Masamune at a banquet following a ceremony to build and relocate Sendai Castle. |

この一筆箋は、東北六魂祭りを記念して制作された「なかよしこけし仙台すずめ踊り」です。
仙台すずめ踊りは、仙台発祥の郷土芸能です。慶長八年（1603年）仙台城新築移転の儀式の後の宴席で、石垣造りの職人さんが、藩祖伊達政宗公の御前で即興で披露した踊りがはじまりと言われており、踊る姿が餌をついばむ雀に似ており、伊達家の家紋も「竹に雀」であることから『すずめ踊り』と呼ばれました。
