Description
The masterpiece "Kamaitachi" was born through the intense collaboration between photographer Eikoh Hosoe and Butoh founder Tatsumi Hijikata. Kamaitachi" is a masterpiece born from the intense collaboration between Eikoh Hosoe, photographer, and Tatsumi Hijikata, founder of Butoh dance. The performance was set in the Sugamo Togenuki Jizo, Katsushika neighborhood, and traditional Tatsumi Hijikata vividly unfolded his performance in the Sugamo Togenuki Jizo, Katsushika area, and the traditional rural landscape of Akita. The ripples created by his encounters with people, and the soul and body of Tatsumi Hijikata running at full speed, resonate with him. Hosoe's gaze deepens the sensuality of the land and the orgasm of life and death while resonating with the soul and body of Tatsumi Hijikata, who is running at full speed. Here, the original landscape and memories of Japan are burned in monochrome. For more than half a century, Eikoh Hosoe has been seeking to express his inner consciousness His unique visual aesthetics have earned him international acclaim. In "Otoko to Onna" (Male and Female), which was released in 1960, during the tumultuous period of the National Security Treaty, Hosoe opened up the body to the naked object and depicted the drama of the antagonism between the two sexes with vivid contrasts. At the same time, he presented "The Punishment of the Rose," a work in which he constructed a baroque aesthetic space as the subject. His collaboration with Tatsumi Hijikata once again bore fruit in the immortal masterpiece Kamaitachi. The original [Kamaitachi] was published by Gendai Shichosha in 1969. In 2005, a complete reprint (Seigensha/limited edition of 500 copies) was published. This book has selected eight more unpublished works and added them here.
