露草色：藍の命は1ヶ月・・・藍が発酵して染色可能な状態になることを、「藍が建つ」と言いますが、木灰だけで藍を管理するのは非常に難しく、自然に発酵するまで待たなければなりません。例年5月初旬頃から建てはじめ、5月20日頃に染められる状態になるとされます。そのため、宮崎氏による藍染めは一年に一度、この一月だけ。露草色に染め上げられた鹿角には、美しく透き通った藍の魅力が余すことなく表現されています。
珊瑚色：美しい珊瑚色を表現するため、通常の茜染めよりも黄味を取り除いた薄赤色の抽出液を用いて、発色の様子をうかがいながら回数を増やし、やや黄味がかったピンク色を目指して重ね染めしていきます。茜色とは一味違う、茜染めの魅力が感じられることでしょう。
