Description
| Leonard *Fujita, painter of description The expressionist Fujita is often a painter of description. The impression is even stronger when looking at the postcard-size photographs of his works; This impression is even stronger when we look at his postcard-size photographs of his works. He is said to have been very near-sighted and to have painted with his face close to the canvas, so it should be said that he did not adjust the composition while looking at the whole picture, but rather, his immersion in the depiction of details led to the completion of the whole. Drawings, photographs, prints, textiles, ceramics, and other objects are painted on the oil paintings as if they were "paintings within a painting. The self-portrait's personal effects (favorite paintbrushes and smoking implements), which he painted repeatedly from the 1920s until his final years, the cat's whiskers, fluffy fur and paw pads that seem to sum up the cat's charm, the Western chintz fabric patterns and tulle that decorate the milky white nude and portrait, the flat plates and prints placed in the background of the figures, and the painted images. Many of them are artisan works from the East and West that he actually collected in his travels around the world and at flea markets in Paris, and he carefully and persistently stamped them into his main line of work, painting. The charm of Fujita's paintings lies in the details. Yoko Hayashi (Art History Research*Art Criticism) - Excerpt from the Preface |

Yoko Hayashi (Art History Research*Art Criticism) - Excerpt from the Preface
