| Product Description Oukyo Maruyama Kyoho 18 (1733) - Kansei 7 (1795) He studied under Ishida Yutei, a painter of the Tsuruzawa school, and later became known for his "spectacle paintings" (paintings of landscapes and other subjects painted by applying the perspective of Western-style painting). He later developed a method of painting through glasses (a kind of 3D glasses) that emphasizes perspective when a landscape or other picture is viewed through the convex lens of a pair of spyglass. He was involved in the production of eyeglass paintings (a toy similar to 3D glasses in modern times). His painting style is based on realistic and delicate depiction with an emphasis on sketching. He also deals with the traditional subjects of Japanese paintings. With his outstanding painting skills and friendly style, he was favored by the wealthy merchants and later became a member of the Maruyama-Shijo School. The Maruyama-Shijo school was later inherited.
