| Nobuyoshi Araki talks about his 60-year life as a photographer. Nobuyoshi Araki is one of Japan's leading photographers. His beloved wife Yoko, his cat Chiro, women, flowers, skies, landscapes, the city of Tokyo, meals, married women, bondage nudes, people of the city.... The photographer's diverse and overwhelming volume of photographs, his encounters with various people, and his current state of mind are all unimaginable in a lone photographer. Araki tells his story in 12 chapters along with many of the photographs he has taken. At the beginning of the book, there is a 48-page photogravure with newly taken photographs. The end of the book includes a chronological history of Araki's 80 years from his birth to the present day, complete with photographs. In 1964, he won the first Taiyo Award for his work on "Satchin," and in 1971, he published at his own expense "Sentimental Journey," a book about his honeymoon with his wife Yoko. Since the 1990s, he has held numerous exhibitions around the world and is highly regarded both in Japan and abroad as one of Japan's leading photographers. |
