Description
Illustrator widely active overseas and one of Japan's leading illustrators Tatsuro Kiuchi's first collection of works Tatsuro Kiuchi, an illustrator active both in Japan and abroad, has completed a collection of his work that provides a comprehensive overview of his activities and work to date. After graduating from a Japanese university (majoring in biology), Mr. Kiuchi studied illustration at the ArtCenter College of Design (New York) to pursue his passion for drawing, which he has loved since childhood. After returning to Japan, he started his career as an illustrator. For a while, he worked with oil colors, but after developing a light touch with oil pastels and then a digital print style, his work increased dramatically. In Japan, he has mainly worked on book illustrations and novel illustrations, and is best known for his work on the dramatized "Shitamachi Rocket" series. Overseas, he has done illustrations for newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, and advertising visuals, and has also done worldwide work for Starbucks and the Royal Mail Christmas postage stamps. He has also produced a number of picture books both in Japan and abroad. The works in this book were carefully selected from original drawings and originals from his wide range of work. The book also includes cartoons that convey a cynical and nonsensical sense of humor, as well as essays from his blog. The special color foil-stamped cover and text design are by Yoromoa Oshima. Text and captions are written in both Japanese and English. [Author] Tatsuro Kiuchi |
