Description
| The Beauty of Tea Ceremony Pottery Handkerchief [Camellia design] In the world of the tea ceremony, ceramics used for the tea ceremony are called "chatou. Potters* and painters of the Edo period (1603-1867) competed with each other to produce numerous works of chatou, and their beauty is still admired today. This beautiful handkerchief is a copy of a painting of tea ceremony utensils left by such famous painters. [Camellia design by Ogata Kenzan (copy) Ogata Kenzan was a potter*painter of the Edo period. His elder brother is a representative painter of the Rimpa school [Ogata Korin], and Kenzan is also counted as one of the Rimpa school painters. Tsubaki", one of Korin's representative works, is characterized by its bold use of Rimpa school designs and bold painting from the "wabi*sabi" style of Suiboku-ga. This beautifully patterned handkerchief is made of an absorbent vertical and horizontal slub material. This handkerchief is full of traditional Japanese beauty and goes well with kimonos as well as everyday use. |
