Printed pattern two-width furoshiki (in a decorative box) This furoshiki is a collection of auspicious patterns in a two-width cloth size to wrap important gifts. It is made of firm shantung material. It is dyed with a textile printing technique that resembles mica (kira) printing, with jet-black printing on black, pearlescent printing on green and coral, and silver printing on sky-blue. Futaba Sachi Aoi The hollyhock was called "Afuhi" in ancient times, meaning "to meet the gods. The ball between the two leaves represents a pearl made of the flower of the Futaba hollyhock. *Kyoto Print Museum The Kyoto Print Museum [publisher Tokuriki] is located in Shogoin, Kyoto. It was founded by Tokuriki Tomikichiro, a member of the Tokuriki family, who was in charge of the Nishi Honganji temple. In the museum, you can see many works, the oldest and largest number of prints, Ukiyoe, and modern prints. |
