This is a rush mat with Kurume-weave fabric used for the edge of the mat. Kurume-ori is a traditional weaving technique introduced in the Chikugo region of Fukuoka Prefecture in Kyushu around the end of the Edo period (1603-1868), and is known as Kurume Kasuri, a traditional handicraft. The cotton threads are dyed in uneven colors and the thickness is varied to create a unique blurred texture. Kurume-ori, a traditional craft that continues to be loved even today, has been transformed into a rush mat with a rich Japanese flavor. The craftsman's skill shines through in the simple and gentle texture. It is also ideal for taking a nap during a short break from work. The side fabric is made of Japanese rushes. Each strand of Japanese rushes is thicker and the outer skin is thicker and finer, making it more resilient and durable. Japanese rushes are 1) 2.5 times more hygroscopic than cotton, reducing perspiration and dampness; 2) regulate humidity, preventing stuffiness and promoting comfortable sleeping; 3) reduce odors by controlling more than 90% of chemicals that cause sweaty smells; and 4) are highly absorbent, making them suitable for sleeping on. The padding material is made of 20mm firm padding. The inside material is made of 20 mm firm wadding, so it has good elasticity. The surface of the rush grass is treated with hiba essence (antibacterial*odor control). Hiba oil extracted from hiba trees in Aomori Prefecture is processed into materials and products using the manufacturer's proprietary technology. [Hiba oil contains hinokitiol, a natural substance with extremely high antibacterial properties, and is being studied for use in various fields, including medicine and food. *Because these are natural materials and craftsmen process them one by one by hand, there may be slight variations in shape and size from those shown on the label. Please understand.
