オオタカの写真を1冊にまとめた写真集
真木氏が初めてオオタカを目にしたのは小学校のとき、
18歳でカメラを手に入れると
なんとかその姿をカメラに収めたいと
撮影に挑戦し続けてきました。
思うような写真はなかなか撮れず、
これまでに長い年月を費やしてきました。
そして数百個体のオオタカに出会い、
30ペア以上の営巣地を観察、撮影しました。
そうしたなかで真木氏が求める写真に近づくためには、
被写体の生態を深く知り尽くすことだということに
気づいたのです。
オオタカの生態を知り、
行動のくせを知り尽くすことにより、
行動の予測ができるようになり
撮影の道筋が見えてきたのです。
こうして本書に掲載された
狩りの場面、捕食行動、繁殖行動、
巣作り、餌渡し、交尾、産卵、
雛の誕生、子育て、幼鳥の巣立ち、独立と
オオタカの生態をつぶさに撮らえることができたのです。
真木氏は「優れた画像を求めるなら、優れた研究者であれ」をモットーに長い間、
自分自身に言い聞かせながら
撮影に打ち込んできたのです。
