Description
| This hana-goza is woven using the Kakegawa-ori technique, an intangible cultural asset of the Chikugo region of Fukuoka Prefecture. Kakegawa-ori is a linear weaving technique that varies the spacing of warp threads, and is notable for the high quality that can be achieved only with high-quality grass. It has been valued as one of the most luxurious hana-goza. It is popular for its beautiful and sophisticated design with alternating large and small weaves. This product is made of Japanese rushes (produced in Kyushu). Each strand is thick, with a thick outer skin and fine fibers, making it resilient and durable. Rigusa has natural air purification and humidity control properties. It is treated with antibacterial and deodorizing treatment using plant-derived ingredients extracted from natural hiba cypress grown in Aomori Prefecture. Using rare Japanese rush grass, veteran craftsmen weave the carpet with great care at a domestic factory, making use of their many years of experience. The beautiful gradation of the weave creates an absorbing image of grasslands and oceans, giving the wearer a sense of grandeur as if they are in the great outdoors. |
