Description
Takenobu Igarashi's animal illustrations, which he had been drawing since he was a student, were shown at his first solo exhibition [Animal Illustration Exhibition] at Gallery Fujie in Tokyo in 1973. At that time, the exhibition venue was decorated with large format works silk-screen printed on aluminum, acrylic, and cloth. These works, which were sold out during the exhibition, can be said to be the starting point of Igarashi's creative activities. Igarashi was particularly attached to the rounded and generous elephant. The production of small ornaments was more difficult than he had imagined and he gave up on the idea for a while, but he succeeded in reproducing the simple and beautiful shape when he met Kurihara Seiki, which has high-precision machining technology. The elephant series was born. Takenobu Igarashi Sculptor and designer. He has been active as a graphic*product designer and has received worldwide acclaim for his axonometric (perspective) drawings for the MoMA calendar and three-dimensional alphabet, VI designs for Suntory Hall and Calpis, and products for OUN and YMD. In 1994, he became a sculptor. He has created many works as public art in various materials such as wood, stone, metal, terra cotta, and stained glass. Currently, professor emeritus at Tama Art University. [made in japan ] [ ornament interior ]. |
