今から20年ほど前ですが、
私にラクロスのヘッドコーチの要請があり、
未経験でしたが指導を始めることになったのです。
それまでアメフトのコーチをしていた経験が
ラクロスの指導でも活きたり、
チームスポーツの指導に
共通する部分があったこともあり、
すぐに指導に熱が入っていきました。
ラクロスの動きは他のスポーツにはない独特なもので、
とても興味深く思ったことを今でも覚えています。
その理由は、
「ファウル」や「サイドアウト」で全員が静止するという、
ラクロス特有のユニークなルールによるところも
大きかったでしょう。
当時の学生の練習方法は、
協会主催の研修で習ったことを
延々と繰り返すだけでした。
書籍や文献を探しましたが
有効な参考書はほとんどなく、
仕方なくサッカーの練習方法を
改良して使っていたのです。
