| Nozoki-Fuji: Cherry blossoms are sandblasted on glasses cut by Edo faceted glass craftsmen. Fuji can be seen when you look through the round peephole carved by faceting. About Edo glass [Edo glass] is handmade glass products inheriting the tradition from the Edo period. Unlike mass-produced products made by machines, the beauty of handmade glass products is that each product is one-of-a-kind, original, and has a unique design and depth that can only be achieved by handmade glass products with a rich taste. Sandblasting is a process in which a fine, hard sand-like abrasive is blown by compressed air to engrave letters and patterns. Kise (cased) glass, which is also used as a material for Edo faceting, is made by layering thinly blown colored glass over transparent glass. This is an Otsuka Glass original product that is processed by sandblasting and Edo faceting craftsmen. Each process is finished by hand. |
