| [The Wei Dynasty Hicu is the name of a fictional animal in Chinese legend. In Chinese mythology, he was born as the ninth (youngest) child of the Celestial Dragon, and is said to have been powerful, clever, and intelligent. The huihu was a kind of sacred beast similar to a winged lion, and was also called "evil-dodging animal," and as its name implies, it was used in the Three Kingdoms period as an animal to ward off evil, for example in the design of battle banners. 貔貅（ひきゅう）は中国における伝説上の架空動物の名前です。中国神話において天帝龍の9番目の子（末っ子）として生まれ、力が強く利発で聡明だったといわれています。貔貅は翼のあるライオンに似た一種の神獣で「避邪」とも呼ばれ、その名のとおり邪悪を避ける動物として三国時代には戦旗の意匠などに用いられていました。明代に著された「三国志演義」の中でも貔貅は勇猛な将兵の意味で使われています。一本角、突出する目、蛇の口、蝙蝠（こうもり）の牙、馬の身体、麒麟の足、長い髭、双翼、長い尾、身を巻く長い剛毛が胸あるいは背中までつながった姿をしており、主食は金銀財宝です。そしてお尻の穴がないことから「食べた財産（金銀財宝）が出ていかない」という伝説があります。現在では「避邪」というよりも「財運の象徴」としての意味もち、蓄財のお守りとして用いられることも多くなってきました。また風水においては四霊とされる「竜／鳳凰／亀／麒麟」にならぶ神獣として扱われています。
