大きな願いを神にかける時、日本人にとって大切な生馬を捧げたのです。
しかし、生馬を奉納するという習慣は人々にとって大変な負担になりました。
そのため生馬の代わりに馬形（一種のヒトカタ）を木で作って奉納するようになりました。
さらに馬を描いたものを奉納するようになり今日に至ってます。

また、打出の小槌は武器の一種で、魔物を打ち払ってくれるといわれています。
