Description
Architect Kengo Kuma's Thoughts on [Earthquake Disaster Reconstruction], [Japanese Manufacturing], and [New Lifestyles] EJP -East Japan Project- Ballpoint pen "Rise Up Pen" designed by MOUNT FUJI ARCHITECTS STUDIO The humorous name of this ballpoint pen, which is shaped like a rising up little priest, is very interesting. If you place it on a desk with the pen tip up, it will stand on its own while wobbling. The project "EJP - East Japan Project" launched by architect Kengo Kuma was created in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. The earthquake and tsunami have given rise to a sustainable and minimalist "new lifestyle" that has begun to take root in our lives. We aim to create products that support this new lifestyle by applying traditional Japanese techniques and materials. [The "get-up pen" was based on the "get-up koboshi" and "akabeko". These are lucky charms* and local toys from the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, and are often seen in local souvenir shops. Both are made using the papier-mâché technique, in which paper is pasted onto a mold made of wood or clay and then molded. The "stand-up pen" has a weight inside its papier-mache body, and its humorous swinging appearance on the desk is full of charm. It brings a smile and a sense of humor to a desk, which tends to be a dreary scene. Also, the "getting up and going" and "akabeko" are symbols of "sevenfold and eightfold success" and "good health and good fortune". It is also a good idea to use it with a wish to keep natural disasters and new viruses away from your home. The "stand up pen" will also function as a seismograph to warn you of a tremor as soon as possible. [made in japan ] |

EJP -East Japan Project- ボールペン 立ち上がれペン designed by MOUNT FUJI ARCHITECTS STUDIO
