By Kano Eitoku, Momoyama period, Tokyo National Museum In conjunction with the major restoration of the original, the reduced-size folding screen has been renewed and rearranged from one eight-fold screen to one four-fold screen. The new screens are closer to the way the fusuma paintings looked when they were painted on the fusuma doors, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of these masterpieces from the last years of Kano Eitoku's life. Eitoku Kano Kano Eitoku (1543-1590) was one of the most famous painters of the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1543-1590). A representative painter of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. He was highly valued by the powerful of the time, including Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and directed all the paintings on the walls of the most famous buildings of the period, including Azuchi Castle, Momoyama Castle, and Juraku-dai (Juraku Dynasty). His works were lost in the war, and there are only a few of his paintings left. 狩野永徳(かのう えいとく)
天文12〜天正18年(1543〜1590)。安土桃山時代を代表する画家。織田信長・豊臣秀吉ら時の権力者に重用され、安土城・桃山城・聚楽第など、当代を代表する建造物の障壁画を全て指導した。戦乱で失われたため障壁画の遺作は少ない。代表作は『国宝 聚光院障壁画』『国宝 洛中洛外図屏風』『御物 唐獅子図屏風』。
