[What is photo etching ]
Originating in medieval Europe with engraving on armor, etching is one of the most classical printmaking techniques. Photoetching is one of these techniques, in which a photograph is burned onto a copper plate, which is then corroded to produce subtle tones.

[ フォトエッチングとは ]
中世ヨーロッパに於いて、甲冑に彫刻することに端を発している銅版画は、最も古典的な版画技法の一つです。その中のひとつ、フォトエッチングは写真を銅板に焼き付け、腐食させて微妙な階調を表現します。
作家自身の監修のもと、用紙・刷色・調子の濃淡など版画工房のプリンターと、色校正を重ねて作品を作っていきます。
今回は現代美術作家の版画制作で数多くの実績がある版画工房Kawalabo ！による1版モノクローム作品。
また、用紙はこだわりの高級版画紙、ハーネミューレを使用しています。
